Hi, I'm Hendrik!
Software engineer by day, bread enthusiast always. I'm on a mission to help everyone bake amazing bread at home.
Where It All Began
My love for bread began in childhood, watching my mom bake fresh loaves for our family. Those Saturday moments spent eating fresh bread straight from the oven became a cornerstone of my life.
As I grew older, I started experimenting with bread myself, inspired by the incredible flavors I experienced during family trips to northern Italy. But when I discovered how many unnecessary ingredients were hidden in store-bought bread, I realized the importance of making bread the right way at home.
The Engineer's Approach
As a software engineer, I've always approached problems with curiosity and a desire to understand the "why" behind every step. Bread-making was no different.
I wanted to know the science of fermentation, flour types, and sourdough, so I could create the best bread possible. My journey led me to share my discoveries, much like open-source projects where everyone can benefit from shared knowledge.
"My goal is to enable as many people as possible to make great bread at home. Bread is more than just food. It's a way to connect, to create, and to nourish both body and soul."
What I've Built
theBread.code();
A YouTube channel dedicated to helping people around the world learn the art and science of bread-making. What started as a personal journey has grown into a community of like-minded bakers.
📖The Sourdough Framework
Three years in the making: a book designed to serve as a foundation for bakers to better understand the mechanics of bread-making. Not just recipes, but a framework to adapt, experiment, and grow.
Join the Community
